A synopsis...
Habit Control
Habits…. They are fascinating, since as humans we are all creatures of
habits. Now, what is a habit? Any action we conduct without
participation of our conscious mind. In way this is how humans acquire
efficiency in any profession or activity. It is when the thinking part
of ourselves in set aside. Habits do not require logic, reasoning,
decision making, analysis or will power. Habits keep us going. In fact
if we had to use our conscious mind each time we had to move a limb, we
would be inert. Habits are so powerful that they could make or break
us. I once heard a poem on habit. I loved it so much and knew that it
was true that I transcribed it for my children and I.
Here it is…
I am your constant companion
I am your greatest helper or your greatest burden
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure
I am completely at your command
Half the things you do you might as well turn them over to me
And I will be able to do them correctly
I am easily managed
You must merely be firm with me
Show me exactly how you want something done and
after a few lessons I will do it automatically
I am the servant of all great men and a lass of all failures
All those who are great I have made great
All those who are failures I have made failures
I am not a machine
though I work with all the precision of a machine
plus the intelligence of a human
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin,
makes no difference to me
Take me, train me, be firm with me,
I will place the world at your feet
Be easy with me and I will destroy you
Who am I?
I am HABIT!
As a clinical hypnotherapist, I work everyday with people who seeking
primarily changes in their life. I have heard that Einstein once said
“To keep doing the same things and expecting a different result is the
definition of insanity.” This is so true.
For things to change in our live, we have to change. In fact the only
constant in life is change. Since all behavior is controlled by our
cellular imprinting and sub-conscious mind, change will begin only when
we access our sub-conscious mind. Just by our self, it is next to
impossible, unless you are enlightened and so you do not need to
change. But for the rest of us, mere mortals, accessing our
sub-conscious mind and changing our sub-conscious programming will
create changes in our habits which control our behavior, our actions
and hence our results.
